How to Apply Under Reserved Category in PPMET

If you belong to a reserved category, make sure to claim your category benefits during PPMET application:

Mention your correct category while filling the PPMET 2026 application form
Upload a valid category certificate issued by competent authority
Certificate must be issued by SDM/Tehsildar/appropriate authority
Category certificate must be in the name of the candidate (not parent)
Ensure certificate is current and not expired at time of counselling
Carry original category certificate + 2 attested copies during counselling

Frequently Asked Questions

SC (Scheduled Caste) students from Punjab get approximately 25% seat reservation in PPMET 2026. SC students also get reduced minimum marks requirement (40% in PCB instead of 45%) and separate merit list for fair competition.

If you qualify the General category cut off, you will be considered in open merit first. However, you should mention your SC category in the application. If not selected in General merit, you will be considered in SC quota – giving you more chances.

For Backward Class (BC) category in PPMET 2026, you need a valid BC Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued by an SDM or competent authority. The certificate should be in the candidate's name and should be recent (within validity period).
